SAP Easy Document Management is a desktop client that provides a simple, Windows Explorer–style interface to the SAP Document Management System (DMS). It streamlines the creation and maintenance of Document Info Records, supports drag-and-drop uploads of originals, and offers check-in/check-out, version and revision control, and status management governed by SAP authorizations. Users can link documents to materials, equipment, change records, and projects so files are embedded directly in operational processes.
The client integrates with Microsoft Office and common CAD formats for direct filing and retrieval. Powerful search, metadata filters, and classifications help users find the right, released version quickly. It leverages SAP workflow for review and approval, and uses KPRO/content servers for secure storage, delivering traceability and compliance-friendly audit trails.
Typical adopters include engineering, quality, manufacturing, and procurement teams managing drawings, specifications, SOPs, certifications, and other controlled documents. SAP Easy Document Management runs on Windows and connects to an SAP ERP/PLM backend; it requires SAP DMS to be configured in the system.
